St. Francis High School, Graham Theatre
Mountain View, CA
St. Francis High School had built strong and active drama and music programs despite a lack of appropriate performing and support spaces. The Graham Theatre was designed to fill that void and does so beautifully. The 409-seat theatre features an auditorium with excellent sightlines and comfortable, accessible seating in a warm environment of wood paneling. The paneling is matched by the finish on the full orchestra enclosure, shown above, which can be deployed to create an excellent acoustic environment for music performance. Drama and musical theatre performance are supported by a fully-rigged stage measuring 33’ x 74’ and a mechanical lift providing immediate changeover from orchestra pit to fixed forestage.
There are two front-of-house catwalks and box booms for stage lighting in addition to three on-stage electrics battens and wall boxes for the 192-circuit Ethernet-enabled lighting system. Permanent lighting and sound consoles are located at the rear of the theatre in a large control room suitable for use as a teaching space. AV systems include an assistive-listening system, a distributed intercom system for production communications, main stage amplification and playback system and stage page/monitor system throughout.
Backstage amenities include scene shop, costume storage, dressing, makeup and green rooms. The audience is supported by a 1700 SF lobby, generous restrooms and box office/concessions/coat check space.
